About HollywoodDraft.com
What happens when fantasy sports meets celebrity gossip? HollywoodDraft.com is born. Since 2006 it's been the ultimate celebrity fantasy experience. The people behind the site have a combined 20+ years experience in the fantasy games business and a more than unhealthy obsession with celebrities. Parlay your celebrity knowledge into an endless stream of celebrity smack talk. Draft Brad Pitt or Britney Spears and start collecting points as they make headlines. Keep a close tab on upcoming entertainment events to score big points with your favorite celebrities on marriages, divorces, babies, magazines covers and the latest blog worthy gossip.

What is Fantasy Celebrity?
Fantasy Celebrity is modeled after Fantasy sports. The only difference is that you earn points through entertainment gossip instead of sporting events. With the Hollywood Draft game you pick a team of celebrities, which consists of 5 female and 5 male celebrities. You choose the celebrities that you think will appear among the daily blogs and weekly magazines to help your team gain points.

How HollywoodDraft.com Scoring Works
Hollywood Draft uses many different media outlets for scoring. You earn points from the following blogs; Perezhilton.com, Popsugar.com, dlisted.com and TMZ.com. Earn points through the following magazines; Us Weekly, InTouch Weekly and People Magazine. Also earn points for the following Public Events; Marriage, Divorce, Baby, Rehab, and Arrest.

What Sources Do We Use?

Blogs
Blogs offer the most up to date celebrity gossip. Most of the blogs used by Hollywood Draft are updated every 15 minutes. This means more points for our users! Users receive 1 point for every picture on the blogs.

Cartoon, drawings and advertisements do not receive points on blogs. For blog post containing videos; the preview image for that is used and posted for the video will receive points. Pictures will only earn you points if most of the celebrities' body or face is in the picture. Pictures of body parts only, such as a hand or a foot, will not earn you points. Wax figures do earn points for the celebrity that is shown in wax form.

HINT! If a “breaking” story happens at 8:00 PM, chances are the celebrities involved in that story will be on every blog a couple times the next day. It is a good idea to change your lineup every night!

PopSugar.com 1 point per picture
Points only awarded for main pictures on the main page and Guess who. No points will be awarded for same pictures posted on the same post, so the little pictures at the bottom DON’T COUNT!

Perezhilton.com 1 point per picture
Points awarded only for pictures on main stories, Easily Offended and preview image for videos.

dlisted.com 1 point per picture
Points awarded for only main picture per post and Caption This, if it features a celebrity. Points will only be awarded once.

Tmz.com 1 point per picture
Points awarded for main picture and preview image for videos.

Magazine Points
Hollywood Draft uses magazines to incorporate another media form into the game. Magazines give the weekly roundup of all the celebrity gossip. Since magazines only come out once a week they are assigned a higher point value, with the cover being worth the most points. Magazines are printed on Wednesday and generally hit the stands by Thursday night. Magazine cover points will be awarded on Wednesdays or whenever they are released to the public. Pictures inside the magazines will be awarded on Thursday nights. If magazines are not out till Friday, points will be entered on Friday, however all points will be awarded for Thursday's roster.

HINT! Check out the blogs during the week before the magazines come out. The biggest story of the week is likely to land on the cover. Also, pay attention to which magazines favor certain celebrities. InTouch Weekly loves Angelina and Brad, so they may be a safe gamble on magazine’s cover day (Wednesday).

Public Events
Public Events are classified as Marriage, Divorce, Rehab, getting Arrested or having a Baby.

HINT! If a celebrity receives a DUI arrest on a Saturday night, they will receive -10 (negative) points for the day they were pulled over. If a celebrity is married over the weekend, it would be a good bet to pick them up! That could be 20 points (10 points per person).

Marriage 10 pts   Rehab -10 pts
Divorce -10 pts   Arrest -10 pts
Baby 15 pts

Why Do I Receive Negative Points?
Good question. In today's celebrity world when you get arrested you get more press, not less. So, negative points tend to even the playing field. If you know Heather Lockear is scheduled to be arrested tomorrow you may want to pick her up because of all the coverage she'll have. However, you will get -10 points when she goes to jail. But the reward of having her on your team may earn you 25 points that day for all her blog coverage so you need to strategize your options! You also have the option of putting her on your team the day after she goes to jail, foregoing the negative points and hoping that she has the same amount of press coverage the next day.

When are Points Updated?
Points are updated every day, all day long! Points happen as the gossip happens. Points will stop for each day at 11:59pm EST. Any posts on blogs after that time will count for the next day. There is always something going on at HollywoodDraft.com so check back often to see how your team is doing.

How Long Do Seasons Last?
Each season in the Public game one month long. Each season begins on the 1st of the month.

Public Game Structure
The Hollywood Draft Public game is loosely structured after Fantasy Sports Public (National) Games. When playing the Public game on Hollywood Draft, you will be competing against all the other celebrity obsessed people on the site. Everyone is allowed to pick any celebrity they want. So the game will get very competitive. Just one day with a celebrity has the opportunity to change your points dramatically! So, if you read today that Brad and Angelina are going to adopt more kids tomorrow, PICK THEM UP! You will earn 15 points for each celebrity. That is not even counting the points you will get for the magazine coverage and continued blog posts. If you read that Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee are going to get married this weekend, PICK THEM UP! If they're going to get divorced, again, drop them! Or maybe you read that Lindsay Lohan kicked the crap out of Samantha Roson, DROP HER…or not, it's up to you. If you read and keep up on celebrity gossip you will be on top!

Simple Rules for Success:
1. Know your gossip
2. Change you celebrities daily
3. HAVE FUN and brag about it. After all… second place is the 1st loser!

Hollywood Draft “Groups”
Hollywood Draft created Groups to let our users participate in the Public game while still being able to closely watch and compete against a chosen group of people. Anyone can start a group on Hollywood Draft. You can also invite anyone you'd like. A group can consist of 2 people or 50 people, it's up to you. The advantage of starting a Group is that you will be able to check up on everyone in the Group and see whose celebrity skills reign supreme!

Strategy
Finding The Right Celebrities For Your Roster
A great place to start would be Hollywood Draft and search for the celebrity's profile. This will give you all their past points and where they come from. It will also give you their past rank to let you know if this star is on the rise or falling fast. Another great place to look would be imdb.com which lists almost every single celebrity and gives you all their credentials. You may find out that even though you didn't know a person's name, you know their face. Ask yourself, who has a movie coming out or who's promoting their latest TV or music project? These celebs will be on a media whirlwind trying to promote it. They will most likely be everywhere and they may even create their own scandal to drum up more press coverage, I'm talking to you Madonna. Probably the most obvious and beneficial place to look is the blogs we use for points. All the blogs cover the major gossip, but each blog has their favorite celebs that they post on. Popsugar.com loves Rachel Bilson, so you can count on a few posts each week about her. PerezHilton.com loves posting about Chase Crawford and all the other boys he has crushes on. Even dlisted.com has a few favorites in Phoebe Price and Shauna Sand. These may not be the most sought out celebrities but there will be stories posted on them, so take them into consideration. Blogs also have the celebs that they hate! This is also good, the more they post about someone the more points for you!

Maintaining Your Roster During The Season
Hollywood Draft updates points all day every day so maintaining your roster is up to you. We encourage you to change your celebrities every day. Celebrity gossip is always changing and so should your team! Checking HollywoodDraft.com everyday will help you in determining if your team needs to be changed. If you choose to change your team, Hollywood Draft will walk you through how to add/delete celebrities from your roster. Just remember that the celebrities you put on your team today will become active tomorrow. There's always another celebrity marriage, baby or DUI bust around the corner so stay on top of your game!

Historical Celebrity Rankings
Hollywood Draft maintains a history of all the celebrity points earned. This data can help you gather trends either by celebrity or media source. The strategy is up to you and you'll have all the data to come up with the next high scoring celebrity scenario!
